The Major Arcana

The Magician

Symbolizes the ability to direct one's energy towards accomplishing things. The card represents a magician on the verge of enacting his will with confidence. He focuses his will to manifest a goal.

The magician represents mustering every ounce of one's energy in order to make something happen. It can also represent having the skill, talent and tools to manifest a goal, one just needs to bring the willpower to enact it.

Reversed interpretation: Lacking skill, talent, or tools. Lacking willpower. Willpower is blocked. Could be caused by weakness, laziness, or incompetence. May manifest in blaming others for one's own shortcomings.

There is a lack of internal empowerment. This can manifest as blaming others for one's own shortcomings. Could become abusive by refusing to take responsibility — refusing to take on internal empowerment — and giving up the power to act to others.

  • Infinity symbol: The "lemniscate" represents the endless energy in the universe; the source of power to take action.
  • Figure's stance denotes his confidence
  • Table with tools atop it; this is a place of work to get things done. The tools represent fire, water, earth and air. The tools are out there, the magician just needs to bring the will.
  • Snake belt: Renewal and rebirth. Transformation.
